General screening Technique
The company Backers Maschinenbau GmbH relies on starscreen technology.
A machinery construction business enterprise which was managed as family business till today sets milestones in the screening technology since 1989.
We continuously achieve optimizations with our team that connects its experiences of decades directly obtained from our customers and its know-how concerning the newest knowledge in regard of research and development.
Optimization means for our customers a more economical processing of all “mineral” and “organic” materials which are present in their own facilities and combinations of both elementary sorts. Materials or combinations of materials which accumulate in our customer’s facilities under the names product or garbage, have to undergo a separation operation within almost all processing methods. In this regard the starscreen technique realizes screening accordingly to the “Backers Principle” -coarse before fine screening- (within a three fraction screening) and proves itself as very suitable.
The appropriateness results from an economical screening which occurs through the screening principle. The coarse grain is separated exactly in the first screening step (coarse screening) and discharged. The below existing grain is now separated from coarse grain and disturbing materials and transported to the second screening step (fine screening).
On the other hand the Backers starscreens persuades with its flexibility. Together with various construction forms and compact dimensions you can find this flexibility during high-performance usages in almost all materials and specifications of those materials.
The Starscreen Technique is used for grain (separating dimension) of 8 to 80 mm.
For pre-separation of coarser material, grids or vibro-grids are provided as optional equipments on all starscreen models in question. Another innovation is Backers’ new rotor shovel which can be used as a pre-cutter.
Development and manufacturing is carried out in the factory in D-49767 Twist (Germany) due to conviction. Mobilized and semi mobilized starscreen machines with 2 or 3 fraction are manufactured here. In addition individual starscreen solutions (combinations) concerning stationary operation are developed and manufactured for projects.

- Less costs due to minimal usage of screening stars.

- Usage in bounding materials is possible.
- Screening of materials or combinations of materials with clay and earth content. The forming of agglomerates is prohibited and present agglomerates are untied on a large scale.
- Screening of materials with huge volumes due to sifting accordingly to “Backers Principle”. Coarse grain can be screened before fine grain economically.
- The innovative cleaning program with an intelligent cleaning mechanism (automatic or manually) between the screening stars and within the screening pockets (between the star screen fingers) sets new criterions.
- The screening process that can be increased (and which is settable in the first screen division) provides the opportunity to convey in maximum building height and on completely slippery conveying belts. The discharging of materials is carried out in a high discharging point of about 3000 mm.
